Jason's Deli taking former Leo Alfred space in Dublin for 1st area store

Business First of Columbus - by Dan Eaton

Dewey’s Pizza will have new neighbors in the not-too-distant future. Brian Barker, who owns the Dewey’s site and the building next door with partners Clint Barker and Scott Wheeler, said the adjacent building will be torn down to just its walls, get a new roof and be outfitted for at least one restaurant and other service industry tenants.

Malhames cooking up new restaurant idea

The trio of owners behind the area’s two Northstar Cafés are planning a new restaurant at a former Grandview Heights-area wings joint.

Brothers Kevin and Darren Malhame and Kevin’s wife, Katy, along with another partner, signed a lease to take the space at 1433 W. Third Ave. The building once housed Gibby’s Grandview and E.J.’s Canyon Café afterward.

But don’t expect a third Northstar Café.

“It is going to have its own identity package there,” Kevin Malhame said. “We’re still sorting it out.”

Not expected to change is Malhame’s commitment to community involvement and locally grown organic and artisan products. Northstar gave away $20,000 of veggie burgers on Earth Day and continues to donate 1 percent of sales to environmental charities.
