Family fun, ono food and, new this year, a beer garden sponsored by Maui Brewing Company, will all be part of the 38th annual Sacred Hearts Bazaar.
West Maui's highly anticipated spring event will take place from 4 to 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday at the Sacred Hearts school campus, located on the corner of Wainee and Dickenson Streets in historic Lahaina town.
Admission will be free for visitors and residents and scrip may be purchased for a variety of the bazaar highlights such as food, rides and games.
"The bazaar is West Maui's biggest spring event that draws thousands of people to come together to help the students and their families and the faculty and the staff raise money for educational programs," says Lisa Donlon, parent of a student and one of this year's event chairwomen.
"This is really for people of all ages and it's so much fun."
Keiki may enjoy a carnival of rides and games such as turbo tubes, party bouncers, giant slides, a dunk tank and fish pond along with other popular names including Plink It, Duck Pond, Bottles Up, Hula Hoop, Pink Panther, Pirate Plunder, Flower Power, Ping Pong Pitch, Gold Fish, Football Toss, Spout in the Whale along with a basketball booth and a ball pitching tent.
Each class will host an activity with some consistent favorites being a silent auction, a rummage sale, a country kitchen, karaoke, plant sale and tattoo art.
Local entertainers Richard Ho'opi'i, Te Tafya, Howard Ahu, Scotty Rotten and An Den are scheduled to perform throughout both evenings.
Maui Brewing Company will cool off the adults with award-winning, made-on-Maui ales and lagers.
The food booths will feature many local favorites such as teriyaki beef, chow fun, shoyu chicken, kalua pork, cotton candy and malasadas - hot Portuguese doughnuts, deep fried and rolled in sugar.
West Maui's restaurants will participate, including Leilani's on the Beach at Whalers Village and Outback Steakhouse in Lahaina Gateway Shopping Center.
"I'm making chicken taco salad again!" says Leilani's Executive Chef Mike Barry. "Ive been making it for this event for 18 years now and when I try to do something different, everyone asks, 'Where's the chicken taco salad?!' "
Outback will serve ribs, chicken and rice. The Kountry Kitchen will feature for sale mango seeds, assorted jellies, made-to-order crepes, chocolate fountain, lilikoi butter and Hana bars.
